I voice recorded this experience below after being pitched by a scammer and want to break down why they reached out and how their scam works to warn other entrepreneurs in the wedding industry, wellness industry and salt cave industry recognize it and prevent falling into the scammer's trap.

Last night I got a pitch request from a bride to book her party at the Hood River salt cave.  This next morning she responds with let's do a zoom let's include my fiancé. I have ALS a disability so I cannot come and see your location in person but we will zoom go over the details and then talk about payment options, and by the way my wedding location is in Portland Oregon. For me this was my first red flag. Having a wedding over an hour away from the Hood River Salt Cave makes no sense.

I decided to call the wedding location this 'bride' shared and I sent them an email forwarding the bride's email request she sent me. The venue responded back with there not being this bride booked at their location and agreed this was a scam in process.

How this scam works is that the fake bride would pay with a check which would successfully go through being available in my bank account to post ACH payments against. Then in 4-6 weeks the bank would ding my account negative after realizing the check was fraudulent.

Thankfully I'm double checking from different angles where it doesn't make logical sense for a person in Portland booked a wedding in Portland to come an hour away and then secondly calling the location they claim to have their wedding at to confirm whether it is or isn't there and then that location responding back to me saying no they are not booked.

These are simple ways to slow down and verify that a customer is actually real or a scammer.
