# Will I cough afterward? Is that normal?

## Answer

A little extra mucus, a runny nose, or a light cough in the hours after a first session is something many hosts mention as airways stirring. Industry talk treats it as a possible sign that mucociliary clearance woke up — not as a medical diagnosis, and not as a requirement that you “detox.”

It should be mild. It should not be frightening. Hydrate. Do not panic-Google. If you have asthma or reactive airways, you already know your own warning signs; bring your inhaler to the appointment if you use one, and talk to your physician *before* you book if you are unsure.

Severe wheeze, chest pain, dizziness that does not pass, or anything that feels wrong is **not** a salt badge of honor. That is a physician. This magazine will not give you a protocol for “how much coughing is good.”
