# Should I arrive early?

## Answer

Yes. Plan **ten to fifteen minutes** early unless the house says otherwise.

Community sessions often start on the hour and will not hold the generator or the quiet for a late car. Private bookings are kinder, and still not an invitation to treat the host’s day as elastic. You will check in, sign whatever they use, get the shoes-and-phone speech, and sit down without performing.

If you are running late, **text the house** — not this magazine. If you have not chosen a house yet, that is a different question: share your city and Ask the owner.

First visit: earlier is kinder. You will want a minute to look at the room so it is not a surprise when the lights go low.
