# Is salt therapy a complement or a treatment?

## Answer

A complement. Not a treatment plan.

The honest frame is a **complementary wellness practice**: long traditional use, a mechanism you can explain without magic, guest-reported ease in breathing and rest, and research that is still catching up. You do it *alongside* the care you already have — not instead of it.

A treatment, in the medical sense, is something a clinician prescribes, monitors, and adjusts. A salt room does not diagnose you, does not manage your labs, and does not get to tell you to skip a medication. Houses that blur that line are not houses this magazine will cheerfully introduce you to.

If you are managing asthma, a skin condition, pregnancy, or anything else with a physician, keep managing it with that physician. Ask them before you book a first session if you are unsure. Then find a cave that will say the same sentence without flinching.
