# How should I talk about contraindications?

## Answer

Name the topics: pregnancy, asthma, unstable heart or blood pressure, fever, open wounds, active skin infection, recent surgery, sodium-restricted medical diets, contagious illness. Say **ask your physician**, then **tell us**.

Do not copy a European spa-hospital list and call it your protocol if you have not adopted it. Do not scare people who are fine. Do not be so vague that a sick guest thinks they are brave for coming.

**Stay home if you are contagious** is courtesy, and you can make it a house rule tomorrow. A full medical intake is a decision with your counsel, not a paragraph this magazine will write for you.

We name cautions here as industry-common, not as HALO law you must tattoo on the door.
