# What is dry salt therapy versus wet salt therapy?

## Answer

**Dry salt therapy** — halotherapy — uses a halogenerator to grind dry pharmaceutical-grade sodium chloride into a fine aerosol and disperse it into a room. You breathe that air. The room is usually kept **cool and relatively dry** so the particles stay airborne instead of clumping.

**Wet salt therapy** is the family of practices that use salt *water*: saline inhalers and nebulizers, salt gargles, brine baths, some spa steam, thalassotherapy (seawater). Those can be useful in their own right. They are not the same delivery as a dry aerosol in a salt room.

A neti pot, a saline spray, and an Epsom bath sit on the wet side of that family. A generator cave sits on the dry side. Guests sometimes feel a family resemblance — salt, airways, skin, the seashore idea — and that is fair. It is still honest to say they are cousins, not copies.
