# What is halotherapy?

## Answer

Halotherapy (from halo, salt) is the practice of breathing air infused with fine, dry salt particles, with some of that same air on the skin. It is an above-ground way of echoing the microclimate people have long sought in European salt mines and on salt-spray coasts.

A modern salt cave or salt room is man-made. What makes it an *active* salt room rather than a pretty salt closet is a **halogenerator**: it grinds pharmaceutical-grade sodium chloride into a dry aerosol — often talked about as 1–5 microns — and puts it in the air. You sit, breathe normally, and the room does the rest.

This is related to things most people already know — saline spray, a salt gargle, an Epsom bath, a day at the beach — not identical to any of them. It is not speleotherapy inside a real mine, and it is not a neti pot.

Historically known benefits are spoken of here with care. A salt room is not a clinic. Ask your physician if you have a medical condition. If you want a house Angelina has come to know, like, and trust, share your city and Ask the owner.
